Industry and academia have always had a long-standing partnership that benefits everyone. Industry has a strong interest in ensuring that academia produces graduates that are highly skilled, while academia needs to make sure that their students learn the latest and most desirable curricula. Both industry and academia tap into each other for knowledge and thought leadership. This creates significant opportunities for mutually beneficial collaborations. However, it is not always easy to make these partnerships work. It requires alignment in strategic expectations from both sides, as well as a sustainable framework based upon very real constraints such as time, budgets and human resources. This panel will explore what makes for a successful collaboration between industry and design schools. The panel will consist of industry representatives as well as design school representatives who are at the forefront of industry/academic relationships.
